The Men Too Suffer…

I can write about Indian perspectives of being a man. In fact I have been thinking about writing about the problems suffered by our men in society.

I have written couple of articles regarding women issues. But as every coin has two sides, similarly every gender has its own issue. As a feminist it’s my responsibility to address every gender issue into limelight.

Let’s analyze the mens’ world. And it’s a long post indeed.

If you are an Indian men, then welcome to the world of responsibilities and over emotional attachments, that may suffocate you throughout life.

I know Indian mothers are one of the best creatures in the world. But sometimes, actually many times they don’t let go of their children, and specially sons. This is harsh but Indian parents spoil their sons way much. Unknowingly or knowingly they keep pampering him like he is the only thing matters in this world. As a result of which those poor boys grows into big children in future.

Indian men are often accused of “Not handling rejection in a good way.” Well it’s not their fault. It’s the way they have been brought up in families.( This is changing gradually in families and it’s good for all).

Another harsh reality Indian men fall into after their marriage. As our families are struggling between tradition and new found personal life concept, it’s the men who suffer the most in such situations.

For example- Ram is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Das. Ram’s Mom is a lovely lady who dots on him obviously. She one-day asked him to bring her daughter in-law as she wants to see grandchildren ( The missile logic to get children married).

Ram got married to an educated girl called Sita. Sita works in a corporate office. After six months of happiness, one day Sita complains to Ram that her mother in law is insulting her in front of others saying “What does she know about maintaining a house, as she is barely there?”

Ram asked her mother about this. Guess what she just rolled down with years and told that “I didn’t realise that your not mine anymore. You will listen to your woman now onwards. I am sorry I will not tell anything to her as an elder.”

Ram consoled his mother and asked Sita to tolerate a bit. Her immediate response was “ I knew you are a Mamma’s boy. If you would listen to your mom, why did you marry me on the first place.”Ram again consoled her.

Who is the worst suffering person in this family drama?

Sita…No.

Mom…No. The worst suffering person in family dramas are always the men( Here Ram). They just get pissed between job, parent’s tantrums, wife’s issues and everywhere he is the one expected to say “Yes, you are right.” Apart from this, if anything else comes out a man’s mouth, he turns into a monster for everyone else.

The Wisdom of Money –

People often accuse men of being beauty hunters. The complain of many girl is “ He left me for a beautiful girl.”

Well there is the women side of preferences too. They are-

Many women are never happy with the salary or earning of their husband. They keep comparing themselves with the creamy layer above them and bring this issue every now and then.

Many women keep comparing their maternal money, status, family background etc. while there is some odd situations in in-laws. They forget how much it hurts any person be a man or woman, when anyone pokes their family.

Many women keep complaining or bitching about other women to their husbands or boyfriends or just male friend. They don’t get it that men just don’t care about those.

If you can’t spend much for your girlfriend, they you can’t complain if she leaves you.

Boys are taught to be strong and no crying creatures. Why? I don’t understand.

They are debarred of wearing pink or cherry colour. Again, why?

They are termed as gay if they hold another boy’s hand. While girls can hug each other and walk the whole walk holding hands without any odd eye.

When it’s rape/dowry/domestic violence , people always think men are the criminals. Why? Women can harrass men too. Women can torture men too. Women can charge false cases too.

When it’s a line be in bank or post office. Women do always break the line and nobody can say them anything. If it’s a train line and your train is late, then fine. But in banks, post office etc. there is no need of women to sideway their works breaking line unless they are disabled.

.

.

I can go on like this. And many women will pull their hair out of anger for my answer. Don’t be outraged. We must look after issues men face and women face. Then only we can figure out a balanced society. Or else we keep bashing each other and die one day for nothing.
